So today kicked off birthday week around here -- I cannot believe it. At all. My little guy will be 4 on Friday. He is excited & ready for the big "4" but his momma is still in denial that he is growing or aging at all.
Birthdays are a big deal at our house & we pretty much celebrate all week long. The Sunday before the big day we have cook a breakfast that is the b-day person's choice. Deacon is a fan of eggs with cheese, sausage, & butter biscuit & so that is what we all enjoyed! And the whole week I try to cook meals that I know he loves, because, after all, it is his week!
We also kicked off our birthday box -- a box of goodies that the birthday person gets to pick from once a day. I am NOT huge on toys & gifts so it is NOT a box full of toys -- some of the ideas are simple. For example, there is a coupon that says "You can stay up as late as you want tonight" & so it becomes a late night for him (& also a no nap day for him so that he will still crash before 9:00, haha). There is another coupon that says "You get to pick where our family goes out & eats dinner tonight" & when he names it that it where we go (I know it will be the DFAC as he is obsessed with soldiers right now & wants to eat where the soldiers eat, ugh.). There is also his favorite drink, snack, & 2 toys that are related to Army stuff. So, it is just a fun way each day to celebrate the person with a birthday in our family & remind them that this week is all about them!
Lastly, we completed a birthday questionnaire with Deacon -- just a list of questions that tell about who it his at the age, what he likes & loves, & what his dreams are for this year. It is so much fun to do & document the boy that he is & read about in years to come. I started this with him at 3 & will probably do it until he refuses to participate anymore. I fill in the answers on a piece of paper & scan it into our photo book scrapbooks as a keepsake. There are a number of questionnaires on Pintrest -- you just have to find the one you like or create one for yourself.
So, in 5 days my boy will be 4 & we are going to spend the week celebrating him!!
A breakfast for champions, or a very hungry 4 year old
Digging in -- sweet tea & all, of course he got to pick out his drink too
His birthday questionnaire
The infamous birthday box
Choosing... of course he went for the biggest gift in the box
Oooooh!!! So excited!!
One happy kid!!
Heather, this is great! You are such an awesome mom!!
